The Chinese steelmaker Jinan Steel based in Shandong Province announced that it planned to integrate the production of its melting plant with its steel plate plant.
The company's plate plant was commenced operation since February 1998. In 2001, it was upgraded by adding a new 3,500 mm finishing mill.
As a result, the plant increased its annual output capacity to a total of 3.6 million tons of steel plate, including 1.8 million tons of shipbuilding plate.
In May 2010, Jinan steel commissioned a third plate mill at its steel plate plant, with a production capacity that reaches 1.8 million tons per year
